The majority of homes are in satisfactory condition. However, a few have serious defects and may warrant extensive expenditure. A survey will help avoid such problems. Please remember a mortgage valuation is not a survey and it will not provide a detailed review of the building's condition.

The type of survey you should choose is highly dependant on the property that you are buying and your future intentions, such as any plans to extend or alter the building.
